Coronavirus Chronicles Day #35
So back before I became a corporate drop out I did quite a few corporate training classes. One thing that has stuck with me from that training was from a Covey class. The main takeaway I had was to focus on your circle of influence. Not much else has stayed with me but this statement has. It has served me well on many different facets of life and this pandemic is no different. So examples of this thinking…can I cure the coronavirus? Nope, not in my circle of influence…Can I write social distancing policy? Nope, not in my circle of influence…you get the idea. But you know what is in my circle of influence? My Husband, my kids, and this house. So today I focused on the house. I scrubbed this house from top to bottom for 6 hours!! Now I’m not saying I haven’t cleaned all quarantine but not a deep clean. If you had 4 boys, a husband and a dog you would understand!! I started upstairs which meant I would eventually have to do the boys bathroom upstairs…But the avoidance was strong with me today so I decided to start in Dawson and Owen’s bedroom. I kid you not they have to own at least 100 stuff animals and these kids only believe in free range stuffed animals…it took me at least 20 minutes to wrangle up all these animals and pen them in a Rubbermaid container. After that I rounded up legos, random underwear, puzzles that I will never find all the pieces of. If you are missing pieces to a puzzle do you throw it away? Asking for a friend…I mean we all know that as soon as I throw it away I am bound to find the rest of the puzzle. I didn’t throw it away I just jammed the pieces into a corner of the closet and moved on. Finished up their room and moved to the bathroom…I know I could have moved to Noah and Corbin’s rooms next but their rooms are on the other end of the hallway and I was totally Six Sigma’ing my cleaning route. So it was time to face the bathroom. Why oh why must they squeeze out half the toothpaste on the counter only to have it dry into a substance 2 steps down from concrete. After using a pampered chef scrapper to chisel the toothpaste I finished up the sink and I turned to the toilet, nope not yet, I can’t deal with that yet…I’d rather scrub the tub! Cleaned the shower, made it spotless…now it was time for the toilet…Oh good Lord…All I’ll say is I spent this afternoon searching toilet night lights, I’m hoping it will help with their aim… Finished up the kids room and headed downstairs. Every window, baseboard, vent, door, everything has been scrubbed. In fact I’m still smelling bleach!! You know what the best thing is after spending 6 hours cleaning your house? When your dog leaves muddy paw prints on your freshly mopped floor…yep he’s still a jerk…

Tonight was Corbin’s dinner choice. He picked T-bone steaks, sautéed mushrooms and a wedge salad. I know, I know I’m still a genius!!! This might be the best idea I’ve ever come up with!!

After dinner we played Monopoly Deal, it claims each game is only 15 minutes. I thought it was fun even though it took longer than advertised. Adam called it a waste of 45 minutes…his positive attitude left me believing that he’ll like it more the next time we play…

Anyway the kids are alright, Adam and I are alright and the dog is living his best life.
