Coronavirus Chronicles Day #42
Today is the start of the weekend for the boys and I but Adam gets to work.
Woke up about 7:30, was sure it was 10 because it was super bright in our room. Grabbed coffee and had Owen snuggle next to me. By 8 I was ready to get going. I sent the kids upstairs to get dressed and as the boys came downstairs I noticed Owen was in a navy blue shirt and black and red shorts. We might be on quarantine but we will look good darnit! I told Owen that Navy and black don’t match and he should change. Owen looked at me and said fine but I’m out of underwear so Dawson has been letting me borrow his. Dawson is next to him nodding…me…”um okay”…Adam from upstairs yells…”they’re clean underwear right?” Dawson…”yep!” It was a valid question at our house!
The plan was to do another cleaning day but today the boys had to help! Now don’t get me wrong the boys all have chores that were assigned at the beginning of this thing. Noah has to empty the dishwasher and load any breakfast dishes, Corbin has to let the dog out, Owen has to feed the dog and Dawson has to take any recycling out. Then they all have to make their beds. I’d like to say this works out great for me but in reality it’s a little more complicated. Noah puts the dishes away to the best of his ability but I end up spending most days standing in the middle of the kitchen asking myself “if I was a 12 year old boy where would I put the …..?” I have found things all over my kitchen but never where they belong. Do I say a word to Noah, nope…boys are like skittish animals, if you say the wrong thing you scar them forever and they’ll never do it again. I’ll let him keep putting things away wherever but I might say later “Noah do you know where the ….is? I always keep it right here in this drawer”…wink wink wink….Corbin takes the dog out but Quavo is 40% jerk and will only pee for Corbin. Anything else requires adult supervision. I can’t explain it, he might just be dysfunctional.
Owen is responsible for feeding the dog and while he does feed him, Quavo feels that the single cup of dog food he is given in the morning and at night is meager helpings and he is slowly wasting away. Quavo doesn’t complain to Owen but up the chain of command to me. Dawson is responsible for recycling and does just fine. Today they had to do all of that plus pick up, dust and vacuum their rooms. I did the bathrooms, final inspections of their rooms and all if the downstairs. Once we were done I told them we could spend the afternoon in the pool.
Things were going pretty smoothly and I was timing vacuuming between Adam’s conference calls. What I’d really like to better understand is why when Adam yells downstairs that he is about to get on a conference call everyone gets quiet except for the dog who decides now is the perfect time to sing the song of his people! ![]()
We finished up and ate lunch outside in the sun. Opened the pool and needed to do some cleaning. We spent the afternoon cleaning outdoors and getting some sun. Owen and Corbin played football, Dawson did field maintenance…

Dubois County folks listen up! Did you know that Holiday Liquors has an app? Or that you can use that fabulous app to shop from home and pick it up at the store? I didn’t either but now I do and I’m a bit giddy about it!! You’re welcome….
Adam did round 2 with the fertilizer…no picture of Adam but see if you can spot where he put the fertilizer…

Enjoyed dinner and the boys are now downstairs watching a movie and Adam is watching the draft and texting…
The kids are alright, Adam and I are alright and the dog is living the high life.
