Coronavirus Chronicles Day #6

Woke up at 7:00 and Adam headed to the office aka upstairs. I took a moment and read the news before I did a quick 20 minute speed ride while Noah ran a mile on the treadmill. Realized that Noah does much better with exercise in the morning. Less grouchy and more focused for both of us really.

Loaded and prepped the kindles for eLearning I didn’t judge whether the lesson plans were easy or hard for fear of underestimating them and pissing off the e-learning gods. I’m pretty sure this is a thing…

Noah started his work early and finished by 10:30ish. He was in a groove and I say rock on with your bad self!

The rest of us started at 9:15 and today went much smoother. Adam came down at one point and went searching through a cabinet, I heard him find what he was looking for and say jackpot. Asked him what he found and he replied noise cancelling headphones. Who knew e-learning with 4 boys would be loud… We finished at staggered times with Corbin finishing last but we made it without a lot of frustration which is a good sign.

My texts blew up this afternoon and I got the email that I was afraid was coming, Indiana schools are closed until May…Um okay I can do this! I can do this! I’m like the book I read to my kiddos The Little Engine that Could. We are going to get over this mountain but I’m on my second Mexican Mule so I’m feeling super positive about the next 6 weeks at this point…😜

Noah is craving social time and he has been on the Xbox all evening. I usually wouldn’t allow this but it’s raining and he can’t be outside and I understand he needs an outlet as much as I do.

My phone has been busy today. So many of us reaching out to each other to make sure we are okay. Laughing and sharing best practices in e-learning. More than anything we are all craving social interactions for mental health.

Corbin FaceTimed friends and I saw a huge smile on his face.

The younger boys learned about Mo the Sloth and Quavo decided the Sloth was not as shady as the Porcupine.

Owen somehow hit his face on the Xbox headphone…which also has been glued to Noah’s head. This explanation seems suspect but he’s smiling so I’m going with it.

Tonight was Taco Thursday!! Mostly because I wanted a Mexican Mule and instead of deciding the drink that pairs with the dinner I picked the dinner that pairs with the drink. Don’t judge….

Mexican Mule Recipe-1/4 cup Tequila, 1 tablespoon fresh lime, 1/2 cup ginger beer and a lime garnish if you’re fancy

At dinner we discussed family activities to get and keep moving. Bike rides or walks, runs when we can and simply enjoying better weather when it comes.

I’d like to say we are getting into an groove, but we’re not. Today was good, who knows what will come tomorrow. Weather plays a lot into it. Sunshine good, rain bad, but we are trying.

So in summary the kids are alright, Adam and I are alright, and the dog is living his best life.
