Coronavirus Chronicles Day # 38
At 5:03 this morning something caught the attention of the dog in our yard and he didn’t like it!! It could have been a coyote, a cat, a raccoon or a leaf, who knows. But at 5:04 Adam nudged me and I pulled out my ear plugs (I’ll explain those another time) he told me the dog was losing his mind. I listened for a few minutes and decided if it was time for the zombie apocalypse I was just going to sleep through it. I rolled over and went back to sleep but I did hear Adam scream like a little girl when Dawson snuck up on him to ask what was going on. I think I may have giggled as I fell asleep.
Adam woke me up at 7:30, I was deep asleep and I think he found enjoyment in waking me up after I refused to get out of the bed at 5:04, but I might be reading his smirk incorrectly…
Grabbed coffee and ate 2 hard boiled eggs. Yes, I am trying to eat well. And everyday starts off super positive…
Got the kids up and running at 9 on E-learning. We had to get going, I had big plans to go for a run today at 11:30 and we needed to hammer it out. Why don’t I remember that the best way to derail the day is to have a timeline. When you have 4 boys you don’t have your timeline…you have their timeline…at 12:20 Corbin and Noah were still not done and it was time for lunch. Got everyone fed and Adam then headed to the office for a little bit. I refocused Corbin and got him finished at 2. Noah promised me he only had a little left, I think his biggest problem today was that he kept getting distracted by bright lights and shiny objects.
There was no way this girl could get on the bike today, so I decided a run would be perfect. I haven’t ran all winter, and today was the day. I was so rusty but it’s running, one shoe after the other repeat..For the most part the run was uneventful. I had good music and was getting into a rhythm. I was about 1/4 of the way in when I saw a lonely shoe on the side of the road and wondered about it’s origin story. I mean how does a single adult shoe end up on the side of the road? If it was a toddler shoe I would understood. When Corbin was 2, he loved to throw things. One time we were in the crying room at mass and he took his pacifier out of his mouth looked Adam straight in the eye and chucked it as far as he could throw it. He then looked at Adam again and said Uh Oh…like it was an accident…(pretty sure this was where gray hair 6 and 7 came for Adam) Any hoo, I could totally see some toddler riding along in the back seat of a car taking off their shoe and throwing it out the window. Then saying uh oh like it’s an accident. But an adult shoe? Now that is a whole different thing. Did the shoe fall out, was it thrown, did a friend do it as a joke? Was it on some big adventure to find it’s life long partner? So many questions and no answers. This whole scenario occupied my thoughts for a good mile…the other mile was me looking over my shoulder because Adam was due home soon and I was positive he would try to sneak up behind me and honk the car horn!!

Adam beat me home but he didn’t get to honk his horn because I saw him coming! Got home and let the kids change into swimsuits and get in. I was reading and got a wonderful phone call from Adam’s Grandmother. I so love talking to her!! The kids got out and at 5. Adam and I got in and swam for a little while.
We had dinner and discussed different recipes for next week. I suggested everyone pick a food from the place they wanted to visit. I said I might like rice paper spring rolls with peanut sauce. Adam looked at Owen, Owen looked at me, and said Nope… Adam laughed and high fived him. Jerks… Corbin said he had to research meals from South Africa, Noah said he could find a cool recipe from Venice, Owen said he didn’t know what they eat in Vegas. I joked that Owen would be happy with an all you can eat buffet…Adam suggested that Owen reach out to his good buddy Merrill and ask what is good to eat in Vegas. Dawson wanted to go to the Cincinnati Zoo so we thought chili or BBQ ribs. Adam is interested in Yosemite so he suggested Bison burgers. After dinner we made homemade ice cream. I’m just exercising right now to nullify the food I’m eating.

As I was getting the boys ready for bed I saw Pepe LePew in our front yard. Starting to wonder if he was our visiter last night. Double checked and the cat is currently in the garage and not being wooed…

The younger boys are now in bed and I can hear Noah talking to the tv again. Which tells me the kids are alright, Adam and I are alright and the dog is living his best life.
